Green assured over QPR future

Green: Second choice at Loftus Road since Julio Cesar's arrival

The England goalkeeper signed a two-year deal at Loftus Road in July after leaving West Ham, but has slipped down the pecking order following the capture of the Brazil international at the end of the summer transfer window.

Green played in QPR's first four games of the 2012/13 campaign but has watched on from the bench since Cesar's arrival.

However, Hughes insists that Green has every chance of supplanting the former Inter Milan shot-stopper when QPR take on Green's previous club on Monday night.

"Does Rob have a future here? Absolutely," said Hughes.

"I think Cesar has been exceptional. He acquitted himself really well again in the game against Reading last week. He saved a penalty and he's in my thinking for West Ham, certainly."

Hughes admits he has some sympathy for Green's situation but wants the 32-year-old to put pressure on Cesar.

"Rob is working hard in training, trying to put pressure on Julio and get back in.

< p>"He certainly has the capability to do that. But at the moment it's difficult for him. We didn't expect this situation."
